“ I’ve been to Shizuku several times before, but I’ve never checked out the store next to it, Bavu Villas. Bavu Villas is a takeout restaurant that specializes Sri Lankan and South Indian street food cuisine (rolls, kothu roti, noodles, etc.). It must be popular; I see customers constantly coming in and out, even customers from New York! I came here for the kothu roti. It’s a popular Sri Lankan street food made from chopped roti, vegetables, egg, sauces and a choice of protein. It’s known for the rhythmic chopping sound made by chefs as they prepare the meal; the best chefs create their own music rhythm. This place offers mutton kothu and various chicken ones. I believe the standard one is mutton, but the person working there suggested I get the chilli chicken for $12.99. The chilli chicken flavour adds a Chinese fusion twist to it which many people like. I think this is also safer for me, as I’m more comfortable with these flavours. The workers here are quite nice (general consensus by people on Google reviews too), and they gave me a mutton roll on the house because they felt bad for making me wait for my order. The kothu roti came out piping hot and fragrant. I have nothing to compare this to, but the flavours were great. I wish it was a bit more spicy, but I’m sure this can be communicated with them beforehand. The portion is huge and I took 3-4 sessions to finish it all. My only complaint is that there wasn’t enough chicken compared to the amount of roti that was included, so the ratio was a bit off for me. Anyways, I highly suggest this place for some good kothu roti. ”

“ I recently tried the Chili Chicken Kothu Roti from Babu Villa, and it was a spicy, satisfying experience! The portion was generous, and the dish was packed with flavor — a perfect mix of chopped roti, tender chicken, onions, and peppers all stir-fried in rich Sri Lankan spices. The chicken was well-cooked and infused with heat, and the texture was spot on — not too soggy and not too dry. I especially liked how the roti pieces were nicely coated in the sauce, absorbing all the flavors. The spicy kick hits just right for those who love a good chili punch. Visually, it may look a bit heavy, but the taste makes up for it. Would recommend eating it fresh for the best flavor and texture. Definitely a must-try if you’re craving bold, spicy Sri Lankan street-style food in Toronto. ”

“ Went back to babu villas after may years and the food still hits the spot like it did back in the days. Got their notorious chilli chicken with extra gravy and their chicken rotti. Was not disappointed, highly recommend them ”

“ There aren’t too many Tamil spots in Mississauga, so whenever I make the drive to Scarbrough we normally hit up a few restaurants alongside grocery to load up before heading back. After seeing Bavu Villas on Instagram, I thought lets give this spot a try over our regular resto. Right away, I knew we made a good choice based on the customer service. This Saturday, it was a father and son duo manning the store and they were both kind, polite, and efficient. We ordered just shy of $100 worth of food and it can easily feed over 8 people comfortably. Special highlights: Chilli Chicken Kothu - Unlike some other spots here, the chili chicken kothu packed great flavor. It wasn’t greasy, nor did it feel like it was just food coloring added to normal kothu. It had the right levels of spice (warning, tamil avg spice), packed to the brim, and had the perfect amount of gravy. 9/10 Mutton Biryani - Out of all the mains we ordered, this one was my favourite, which I was shocked. Biryani is definitely a hot topic, as everyone has their own favourite style. Often I avoid biryani from Tamil spots, as it reminds me more of a soggy rice and curry dish over real biryani. This blew my expectations by a long shot. The rice was perfectly cooked and spiced, and was not overtly doused in curry/gravy. The mutton shined though, perfectly slowcooked for great tenderness instead of a chewy mess. Not only was the quantity of mutton a lot more than I expected, there were no gristle/fat chunks left behind as filler. 10/10 Mutton Rolls - Just like the mutton in the biryani, the meat in these rolls was plentiful and tender. The ratio of mutton to potatoes was perfect, and as a bonus was fried to order. I couldn’t wait until I got home to try these, and had some in the car. 10/10 We also ordered their special of the day which was a creamy chicken pasta. I ended up doing a mixed plate of all the different foods we bought, and this hit the spot to cut the spice levels after the other mains. We also got their masala tea, a dosa set, and some prepacked sweets which were all great as well. Since I'm not from Scarbrough I cant speak too much to the location, but I thought it was easy to find. Maybe I haven't heard of it before just because unlike some of its competitors, it isnt in one of the major Tamil plazas in the west end. Regardless, the combination of taste, value, and great service means they now gained a new repeat customer. ”

“ Absolutely loved this Sri Lankan spot! Service was incredible, quick and the owners are very friendly. I stopped by yesterday and ordered the chilli chicken kothu roti and it was delicious! The portion was generous and the price was more than fair. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the biriyani next time! ”
